Welcome back my friends to our weekly Women In Business Series.
This week I am so excited for you to hear all about Dr. Amanda Jordan, owner of Jordan Family Chiropractic!
I first met Dr. Amanda a few years ago, when neither of us were mommy’s yet, at a women’s business networking group. She has inspired me since the first time I met her with her personal strength as well as passion for helping everyone live healthier, happier lives…especially women.
Not only is she a business owner and a mommy of two – she is also a military wife. She has built a successful business all while her husband has served our country on multiple deployments with the United States Air Force. A very successful business as a matter of fact. She noted that it took a lot of strength and courage to start up the business but has been worth all the stress because she has been able to help so many families.
In 2009, her dream came true. Jordan Family Chiropractic started, and her mission statement came to life.
“My Mission is to help as many people as we can- Especially children!”
Imagine for a second- if you have ever been adjusted by a chiropractor the relief you feel when they put you “back into place”. Your tension eases, range of motion is better, and most importantly, every part of your body starts to heal correctly!
I always went to the chiropractor for my own needs, but never imagined they could work with children…let alone infants less than 24 hours old! I am constantly amazed to see the results of her work, and more importantly believe in the power of good chiropractic care.
Dr. Amanda shared a video with our group one day, and it was one that I will never forget. The video was about a baby who had suffered from colic for 2.5 days and was inconsolable. We saw the baby get adjusted and within seconds calm down and fall asleep. When she then explained how working with infants immediately after birth could help prevent so many issues in children I could see how important her work really was. I was not a mom yet, and didn’t understand what effects a colicky baby (nor did I even know what colic was) could have on a child itself, but also its parents, their marriage or their sanity. The other moms in the room sure did though. They understood the anxiety and pain an infant goes through crying that much at such a young age, and the stress it puts on everyone.
Dr. Amanda’s true passion is helping children and mothers. She notes how mothers rarely take time for themselves, yet don’t hesitate to do everything for others. Yes this is a sign of a great mom…all moms will always put their children first, however mom needs to take care of herself so that she can be the mom running around playing with her children, not just sitting on the porch.
“As women, we tend to wear our badge of exhaustion as a badge of honor; we show just how much we can accomplish while all along sacrificing our own mental and physical health.”
Relate to that quote? I think all women do.
Being a mom now, I think has made Dr. Amanda even more protective of kiddos, their moms, and their health. She now lives the life of a mom with two beautiful girls, and can relate to the moms who face many health issues with not only their children but themselves. She actually is able to truly understand what her moms are dealing with, and that makes her, I believe, an even better doctor.
I was able to witness this firsthand during my pregnancy. I had many issues towards the end of my pregnancy with my hips and back. There were days that I could barely even walk. Dr. Cotey and Dr. Amanda helped give me relief and take the pressure of my ‘big ol belly’ off my poor suffering hips! I could actually walk after I left their office.
Then, I had Giuliana. And guess who was the only other doctor that I allowed to touch her not even 24 hours after she was born? Yep, Dr. Amanda. She came into my room at the hospital, and gently took her into her hands and adjusted her little tiny spine. She was so gentle it was amazing. Why would I let her do that you ask? Can you imagine being cramped up in a small hole for nine months, do you know what that would do to your spine and organs? Also it was able to her whole body work better as well as prevent multiple health issues! (You can ask her all about it here)
Dr. Amanda and her husband, Dr. Cotey have been life savers for many children and their parents. They add a certain value to their practice that makes them different from others, they are perfectionist when it comes to your body and your health. They are not your normal doctors who just want to get your out of pain, they focus on actually correcting the problem.
The inspiration that Dr. Amanda has given to so many moms and kiddos, is amazing to me. She works with you, and literally becomes a part of your family. She has a vested interest in your life, and your children’s lives.
She has built this business, had two children under the age of two, and did it all while Dr. Cotey was deployed for over 18 months in the past three years! She is not only a doctor you should get to know, but a mom that I would want to hang out with!
