A few nights ago, I was in a room with amazing people talking about my 2 favorite things, community and FOOD. #nomnom
It was a night to experience Chick-fil-a and to learn the many reasons behind the lovely, and oh so craved chicken we love so very much.
You see, I first experienced my “obsession”, aka- the chicken sandwich, many years ago while working in a job where I traveled everywhere in PA. I didn’t want to eat fast food all the time, but when you are on the road, sometimes it’s your only choice. Then one day, while driving around to find a different place to eat, there it was. The big red and white sign, that made me drive to the parking and see what this “chicken” was all about.
And then it happened, the perfect combo of pickles, chicken, and cheese (for me at least) had me at hello. But, the real thing I loved, is when I realized I was not at a fast food place, I was at a restaurant. A place where the people that worked there came up to me to check on my order, and they chatted with me like they were my very own waitress. They actually cared about refilling my drinks, and making sure I was happy with the service. Seriously, who does this? This was an experience like none other I had seen. Needless to say, they had me, and I have been a customer ever since.
So, when I was handpicked by The Motherhood and Chick-fil-a to join panel of moms that are also bloggers with me here in Pittsburgh, I was not only excited about the opportunity, but honored to partner with them.
They had a great event planned for us at Manchester Bidwell facility, and it was wonderful chance to meet the owners and operators of the restaurants in Pittsburgh.
We talked about many things that night, but the thing that stuck in my head was one word: values. The people behind the company have them, the company is built on strong ones, and most importantly, the food they sell has so much value because of preparation that leads to me getting that amazing chicken sandwich in my hands.
Here’s a fun fact: did you know that they have “food scientists” that help decide what food you and your children are going to eat?
We got a chance to try just some of the new yumminess that is coming your way very very soon! Let me introduce to you The Broccoli-Kale salad.
And their new Greek yogurt parfait.. I am not huge fan of greek yogurt, but this, this my friends is fantastic.
Some other items that they are working on and we will hopefully see on the menu soon are, the Frosted Coffee, Spicy Southwest Chicken Salad, Cranberry Lime Lemonade, Frosted Cranberry Lime Lemonade, and the Egg White Grilled Breakfast Sandwich!
We talked about community. Building a connection of families, and to giving back is why they are a staple in those communities. From Kids Club events to Family Night’s Out, this company understands the meaning of family. And, I love that they love moms, just like us. They are there to give moms a place where they feel comfortable taking their kiddos, and giving them healthy food is such a bonus.
When I say the word Chick-fil-a to this little crazy princess of mine, I get screams that the neighbors can hear.
Chick-fil-a employees, truly treat their guests like family. They don’t mind if the kids are screaming loud, they are there right with them having fun! They give us moms a helping hand when they see we are struggling with a cranky one, and ask to help fill up the drinks, or get your child a cookie. These people are invested in their jobs, and believe in their company. You don’t have that much these days, and it’s great see.
I could go on and on about the fun we had that night and the amazing things I learned. Like one more little fun fact:
That to me says a lot.
Then when they actually gave my dear friend, Kelly and I a chance to make their lemonade, the way they do, with just water, lemon and sugar, I was amazed that this was all the ingredients the put in it.
I bet you are wondering what else we ate that night, well, you can’t go wrong with a spread like this…
And to top the night off, those so graciously presented us with gifts. A box handmade from a man in Atlanta, that offers jobs to homeless men. It was absolutely beautiful, and the fun stuff in it, well…. you will just have to read in another post about that.. shhhhh.. it’s a secret!
And that big plant your wondering about, that you might have seen on my Instagram account, that plant was so kindly given to us to help out our cooking skills. The pot has herbs planted in it. Rosemary, Basil, Oregano to be exact. It is making my kitchen smell like I actually know how to cook!
All in all, it was great to hear from and meet all the folks that help run this strong and well built company. I thought their values, printed on paper were amazing, and you should take a little peak.
“We are where good meets gracious.”
Couldn’t have said that last line any better myself.
Thank you Chick-fil-a for your graciousness and opening up your company for us moms to see. We are proud to have you in our communities, and help building healthy food options for our families.
Till next time friends! We have more fun stuff to come!
Please check out Chick-fil-a’s website to find out ways to seek out fun family events in your communities!
