Season’s Greetings friends! It’s that time of the year for shopping, but it is also a time to give back.
I vowed to myself this year I would give more, and find ways to help other moms in need. That was my goal- and by the looks I am accomplishing it so far.
That is why I wanted to make the first of my seven gift guides for The Giver in your life, or maybe you even need some ways to give back. Sometimes giving a gift to another person that has a meaning, and gives back to cause, usually makes that gift a little more special.
Listed below are a few of my favorite charities and companies that are doing great things to give back.
Click on the links to take you directly to their project pages or websites.
Make sure you read through to the bottom, because I am giving back to you this season as well! Details are below!
First chance to give back- go visit GO SHOUT LOVE. These ladies have created something so special and unique to help sick children with rare illness. They feature a new family every month to raise money for. They do creative instagram auctions to help raise money for the families with other small businesses auctioning off their products. They also have some pretty cool tees that they sell every month!
If you are an avid reader of my blog, you all must know I am from Pittsburgh. Kelly from the Pgh Momtourage, who is a very dear friend, also from Pittsburgh, is doing something really special this year. And, the best thing, you don’t have to be in Pittsburgh to be a part of it! Here is a simple way for you to give back this season, or give it for someone else. The #fosterloveproject is something Kelly has started because she is a foster mom- and has seen to many little ones come to her with only a hour’s notice, with nothing but the clothes on their backs. So she created this project to help foster parents have something to give to those kiddos when they arrive. Placement Bags are what she is asking for- and they are such a wonderful idea for these families. Check out what they are and ways to give on her Facebook group page here.
If you have seen my Instagram posts in the past few months, you will see how involved I am with this fabulous business. Compliment was started by a teacher, who wanted to start a business with a meaning. Getting inspiration from her passion and love of words, combined with building a community- she started this. Each item you order- comes with a compliment in the box. This can be words that you create to lift up someone you love, and you know what they need to hear. The best part, with each sale they get, 5% goes back to her Compliment Scholarship Program that she started for young girls to get the chance to go to school. I just love this cause, and hope you will get the chance to send someone a box filled with awesome jewelry and a compliment for this holiday season! Below is my favorite necklaces she has: it’s called The Kindness Necklace. If you do order- enter my code “champagnetocrayons” to receive $5 off!
Do you know what a “Jigger” is? I didn’t either until I heard of Sole Hope. Jiggers are are small chigoe fleas that live in the dust, and are found on the dirt floors in schools and the homes of many families in Uganda and other similar climates. These tiny fleas cause so much damage to those without shoes. If left untreated, jiggers become a huge problem, leading to infections, paralysis and even amputation. A young couple Dru and Asher created Sole Hope after coming across what Jiggers were doing to these poor children, when they were considering adopting a child from there. Their main goal (quoted from the website) is to effectively put in place preventive methods to combat diseases that enter through the feet and to create a positive physical and spiritual difference in the lives of individuals in impoverished communities. Now- how can you get involved and give back this season? For your Christmas party this year- make shoes. See what their Party with a Purpose Holiday Shoe Party Kit is all about.
This kit will assist you in making shoes for children across the world. I think this is an awesome way to give back these season, don’t you? Find out more by clicking on the picture below!
What woman doesn’t love a great bag? This season, buy a bag with a purpose in mind. Better Life Bags mission is very simple : to make lives better. Click here to read how Rebecca, a mom of three started this business and why she did it. A huge reason why I love them- not only are the bags awesome and customizable, but she hires women. Women who otherwise could not get jobs. Read their entire mission here, and check out the bag below, and see how purchasing one helps another person out.
With their collaboration with Max Love- The Honest Company is offering these sweet little hats and mittens these season for a reason. These limited-edition Hats and Mittens will keep little ones super cozy (and stylish) this winter. Fleece lined for extra comfort and warmth; a perfect gift for the holiday season. Made in exclusive collaboration with Max Love Brand, all purchases will directly support children fighting cancer and life-threatening conditions.
